Frequently Asked Questions

What is Frontline Foods Alabama?

The idea is simple. We donate healthy meals to hospital workers who are working in wartime conditions by partnering with local restaurants who have been devastated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our team was inspired by the work that Frontline Foods began in San Francisco. We have partnered with their team as they scale their efforts around the country. In the second week of Frontline Foods’ operations, they have expanded nationally and are calling for other cities to launch local programs. The more we scale up the reach of this program, the more restaurants and staff we will be able to help nationwide.

Who is Frontline Foods Alabama?

Frontline Foods Alabama is led by a group of students from UAB’s Master of Science Healthcare Administration. We wanted to support our local clinicians in the fight to keep our community safe during the COVID pandemic, while simultaneously supporting Birmingham’s local restaurant industry. Inspired by the efforts being led in San Francisco, the students answered the call to action in replicating this successful model locally. Frontline Foods Alabama has now partnered with Frontline Foods as a part of their national effort.

As a national organization, Frontline Foods began as independent efforts in San Francisco and New York City who had the same central idea: help our healthcare workers while simultaneously employing our restaurant industry. As this crisis grows in scope and scale, we want to continue to push that mission forward by feeding a number of groups in need across our communities, all while employing more and more restaurant workers.
